New Year, New You?
Every year, people all around the world vow to get fit, healthy, sexy, or strong in the incoming year. Some achieve their goal and many set the same goal the following year and hope that doing what they did last time is somehow miraculously going to work this time!
Guido recently joined Strength Lab’s group fitness classes (with his gorgeous wife Anna). Last week we caught up for a quick coffee – I wanted to find out how he was progressing.
Guido reported that:
- he’d lost 2.5kgs
- his clothes are looser
- his sleep has improved and he’s not snoring as much (yes, Anna loves this)
- he has less joint pain – his ankles and knees don’t hurt as much in the morning
- his overall fitness has improved
What impressed me the most about Guido was his approach to his health and fitness goals. He has given himself a year to get in shape because he understands that’s how long it is going to take to makes the changes to achieve his goal.
So perhaps this coming year, when you’re planning how you are going to finally get the new you you’ve been after for the last few years – perhaps its time to take a different strategy, perhaps even consider who’s in your support network. Never under value the importance of having a supportive network of like minded people around you to learn from and lean on when the excitement and motivation of the New Year wanes.
